Student Council Election 2083 Concludes with Strong Participation and Close Contests
The Student Council Election 2083 at Bibhuti Pathashala concluded today with active participation from students, teachers, and staff members across all four houses. The election process once again reflected the school’s effort to encourage leadership, responsibility, representation, and democratic participation among students.
Voting was conducted for the positions of School Captain, School Vice Captain, House Vice Captains, and Middle School House Captains. Alongside several closely contested races, a few candidates had already secured their positions uncontested ahead of election day.
A total of 352 votes were cast during the election. Out of these, 323 votes were declared valid while 29 votes were invalid. Ruby House recorded the highest participation with 80 total votes cast, including 77 valid and 3 invalid votes. Emerald House recorded 77 total votes with 61 valid and 16 invalid ballots. Citrine House recorded 76 total votes, including 72 valid and 4 invalid votes, while Sapphire House recorded 75 total votes with 70 valid and 5 invalid ballots. Teachers and staff members also participated in the election, contributing 44 votes, of which 43 were valid and 1 was invalid.
In the election for School Captain, Acela Dahal of Grade 9 representing Sapphire House secured victory with a total of 224 votes. Acela has continued to remain actively involved in student leadership over the years, previously serving as School Captain during Grade 7 and later taking leadership responsibilities within her house. She secured 51 votes from Citrine House, 43 from Emerald House, 48 from Ruby House, 55 from Sapphire House, and 27 votes from teachers and staff members.
Her contender, Suman Khadka of Grade 9 representing Emerald House, secured a total of 134 votes. Suman received 27 votes from Citrine House, 40 votes from Emerald House, 29 votes from Ruby House, 15 votes from Sapphire House, and 16 votes from teachers and staff.
For the position of School Vice Captain, Ritisha Bhadel of Grade 8 representing Sapphire House was elected with a total of 214 votes. She secured 38 votes from Citrine House, 42 from Emerald House, 46 from Ruby House, 51 from Sapphire House, and 37 votes from teachers and staff members.
Ankit Shrestha of Grade 9 from Citrine House secured 101 votes in total, receiving 33 votes from Citrine House, 18 from Emerald House, 29 from Ruby House, 18 from Sapphire House, and 3 votes from teachers and staff.
Several house-level positions were also finalized during the election. In Citrine House, Ojashpi Limbu had already secured the position of House Captain uncontested. The race for House Vice Captain ended in an exact tie, with both Ishan Shrestha of Grade 8 and Krijal Shrestha of Grade 7 securing 35 votes each. Following a lucky draw conducted during the school assembly, Krijal Shrestha was declared elected as Citrine House Vice Captain. For the position of Middle School House Captain, Abhinav Dhakal secured victory with 58 votes, while Subarna Kuikel received 11 votes.
In Emerald House, Chunmo Dolma Tamang had already secured the position of House Captain uncontested. Pratima Khadka of Grade 9 was elected House Vice Captain with 43 votes, while Bibas KC received 9 votes, Samsara Tamang secured 7 votes, and Devasis Tripathi received 1 vote. In the election for Middle School House Captain, Roj Neupane secured 35 votes, followed by Sofiya Shree Dahal with 23 votes, Sonam Dolma Lama with 4 votes, and Jagat Jung Bogati with 3 votes.
Ruby House had earlier confirmed Rubina Sunar as House Captain uncontested. In the election for House Vice Captain, Priti Rai of Grade 8 secured victory with 36 votes, while Saira Shrestha received 26 votes and Labson Bista secured 10 votes. For Middle School House Captain, Prasis Subedi secured 51 votes, while Subani Pudasaini received 27 votes.
In Sapphire House, Prince Shrestha of Grade 8 was elected House Captain with 45 votes, while Regain Thapa of Grade 9 secured 24 votes. Ayushka Karki of Grade 9 secured victory in the House Vice Captain election with 54 votes, while Rijan Shrestha received 24 votes. Subodh Gurung of Grade 6 had already secured the position of Middle School House Captain uncontested.
The newly elected Student Council members will officially take their oath of office in the coming days, while the badge-taking ceremony for the elected representatives is expected to be held within the next two weeks.
