Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Bhaktapur Durbar, there lived a foolish king named Mahendra Shah. He was known for his unusual and cruel habits, often giving bizarre and harmful tasks to his friends, family, and workers for his own satisfaction. These tasks included burning their hands, pulling out nails, and even gouging out eyes.
Because of his behavior, the people of the kingdom were terrified of him. They lived in constant fear and began to resent their king deeply. Whispers of rebellion filled the streets as the people longed for a kinder and wiser ruler.
One day, the king commanded his closest friend to walk barefoot across a bed of fire. Though horrified, the friend could not disobey the king. He did as he was told but tragically lost his life in the process. Witnessing the devastating consequence of his cruelty, King Mahendra Shah was struck with guilt and shame.
For the first time, the king realized the pain and suffering he had caused to those around him. He understood that his foolishness had harmed his loved ones and alienated his people. Filled with regret, he vowed to change his ways.
From that day forward, King Mahendra Shah transformed himself into a kind, humble, and just ruler. He worked tirelessly to solve the problems of his kingdom, winning back the love and respect of his people. He apologized for his past mistakes and spent the rest of his life serving his kingdom with wisdom and compassion.
